Russ Whitelock grew up in a family that appreciated great music. His father studied and composed numerous choral works for both adults and youth throughout his career as a choir director, and as a tenor performed annually with the Utah Symphony. Russ’s grandmother played the violin and piano and made it possible for him to study piano with Rose Ann Schmidt Pingree during his youth.

Russ’s formal music training includes the study of music composition with James Prigmore, and Piano Art with Rose Ann Schmidt Pingree. Russ has always had a particular interest in film music and has composed music for a wide range of media productions. Some of these include documentary programs for Ocean Optics-PR Productions in Europe, projects with Sawtooth Productions here in the U.S., and animation work through Red Planet Cinema.

He has composed music for the Hope Benefit Continuum of Caring Awards through Friends of Saint Joseph Villa for the past eight years. Russ also scored Book of Mormon Stories for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and recently finished the music score for "QUETZALCOATL - Tales of Davy Jones" an audio adventure for all ages!.

Russ and his wife Tami are the parents of three fabulous children and live in West Jordan, Utah.
